Braxton Ashcraft's contribution was eleven earned runs in nine innings. RBI gained, OPS gave one back, and Jacob deGrom arrived from John Henry for a 2027 first (yikes) to patch a staff carrying only seven WHIP points. The Oracle has the roster third and pushed Carlos Estévez up 59, an unusually coherent set of opinions from the crayon desk.
Down one, minus 5.5 points, holding fifth at 69.5 (nice.5) with Pat and John Henry now one bad series from taking it. The top of the lineup did its job: Seiya Suzuki drove in ten with three homers, Esmerlyn Valdez ran a 1.134 OPS (got hit right after writing this, oops). Then Bryan Reynolds went 2-for-29 for a .203 OPS and RBI shed a point and a half. None of that is the real story. Three points in ERA is the real story, and it isn't a good one.

A five-point week moves Pat to sixth in the standings at 64.5 and up a place here, half a point ahead of John Henry, hold onto that number, it comes back in a paragraph. The race to the bottom is maybe more interesting than the race at the top? Anyone agree? Just me? Manny Machado hit four homers with eight RBI and Fernando Tatis Jr. drove in ten, while Jameson Taillon handed over eleven earned runs in 8.1 innings. Runs climbed one. Five separate categories are still sitting on exactly one point, which is the honest and inevitable shape of this roster. The Oracle ranks it twelfth even after lifting Colin Holderman 189 spots; on its nicest setting, the machine sent a toaster.

Strikeouts dropped two, which leaves eight of ten categories worth three points or fewer. The Oracle, undeterred by any of this, ranks the roster sixth and moved Jakob Junis up 295 spots. Both of these things can be true: the future here is genuinely bright and the model has stopped reading the standings this week.
